LG Electronics (LG) announced on Tuesday that it would introduce its newest washer and dryer combo appliance “LG WashTower” at the virtual IFA 2020 trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances. LG WashTower debuts globally next month in North America and in France, Canada, and China, by the first half of 2021.
The LG WashTower showcases a dryer on top and the washer at the bottom as a single appliance. The machine features a front-loading system, a washer load capacity of 17 kilograms, and a dryer load of 16 kilograms. LG made the dryer easier to reach with a lower height than the average stack of washer and dryer units.
The machine comes with a TurboWash™ 360° and Artificial Intelligence Direct Drive™ (AI DD™). At each wash cycle, the machine could automatically regulate washing and drying settings based on the clothes’ weight and fabric qualities. Artificial Intelligence Direct Drive enables the machine to reduce its wash cycle times and energy consumption without losing efficiency.
The dryer uses steam technology to achieve overall hygiene and wipes out almost all known common bacteria.
The WashTower also includes a single control panel located between the washer and dryer for easier access. The control panel simplifies every aspect of the laundry process, which offers maximum comfort and convenience.

The company continuously strives to deliver simplified solutions for household chores, which would enable consumers to experience more freedom.
LG would virtually exhibit all its latest innovations, including the LG WashTower in the Clothing Care Zone throughout September. Also, an augmented reality feature would enable visitors to see and experience LG products inside their homes.
LG WashTower appeared first in South Korea last April, selling more than 10,000 units during the first month of launching.
