AI-based medical tech startup VUNO partnered with Samsung to integrate the VUNO Med-Chest X-ray diagnostic solution with Samsung’s GM85 X-ray system.

VUNO Inc., a South Korean artificial intelligence (AI) medical technology developer, formed a strategic partnership with Samsung Electronics Co. In particular, VUNO would supply VUNO Med-Chest X-ray, its AI-powered chest diagnostic technology, to Samsung’s GM85, a premium mobile digital X-ray system.

Offering Optimal Medical Treatment

Since 2014, VUNO has developed AI solutions equipped with deep learning by analyzing diverse data types generated from medical settings. Most of VUNO’s data-driven AI medical solutions utilize state-of-the-art technologies, including biosignals, medical imaging, pathology, and speech data.

The two innovators’ AI-equipped X-ray technology collaboration would debut in selected international and domestic markets this year. VUNO’s partnership with Samsung is also an extension of its goal to leverage full AI potential, providing better clinical operations.

Moreover, VUNO aims to deliver optimal treatment technologies to medical practitioners and provide better patient-centric care services. Many academic journals and clinics have also certified VUNO’s track record and AI algorithm for advanced medical efficiency and utility.

Developing AI-Enabled X-ray Tech

“We are delighted to partner with Samsung Electronics in embedding our best-of-breed AI solutions into their mobile digital X-ray devices,” said Kim Hyun-Jun, CEO and Co-Founder of VUNO.

According to Kim, the collaboration with the South Korean tech giant would bring VUNO closer to expanding its market-ready AI applications’ accessibility to global markets. VUNO also vowed to continue enhancing its existing technologies to offer highly improved patient outcomes.

Meanwhile, Samsung stated that it could launch more complex mobile X-ray technologies with AI-enabled CAD by incorporating VUNO’s AI solutions. Jang Woo-Young, Samsung Electronics DR Business Team Head, stated that Samsung plans to extend its partnerships with medical solution developers to establish a leading global X-ray market position.

Accordingly, Samsung expanded its medical-related technology ventures with its recent investment in Ada Health, a health-tech provider. Ada Health develops intelligent healthcare services, including an AI-supported chatbot for symptom assessments.

Combining VUNO Med-Chest X-ray and GM85

VUNO Med-Chest X-ray precisely and rapidly detects thoracic irregularities suggesting potentially damaging pulmonary diseases, including lung cancer, pneumonia, and tuberculosis. Notably, the AI-based chest screening solution ensures faster reading time and greater accuracy, significantly helping medical practitioners make diagnostic decisions.

Furthermore, the Samsung GM85 is a cutting-edge mobile digital radiography system delivering improved user convenience and upgraded image quality. Besides sporting a compact, lightweight design, GM85 employs a comprehensive technology range, including long-lasting batteries and ultra-fast charging.

After integrating VUNO Med-Chest X-ray with GM85, the two companies could instantly provide AI results upon screening images. The new integrated X-ray system would also become a valuable diagnostic tool with real-time analysis for ICUs and emergency rooms.
