LG Electronics (LG) signs a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems to develop transparent OLED automatic doors. ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, the global leader in automated sliding doors, creates automated pedestrian, industrial and residential doors and services.

LG would unveil the innovative, first-of-its-kind customer experience solution this week with specialized commercial applications.

The resulting transparent product combines the automated glass sliding doors of the Swedish manufacturer ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems and LG’s Transparent OLED signage (model 55EW5G). It would also include LG’s SuperSign software-based integrated content management solution.

The door would display features such as greeting customers, communicating, and deliver advertising and marketing content inconspicuously to consumers. It would provide convenience and touchless access to buildings and structures.

The transparent OLED automatic door also contains self-lighting OLED pixels that duplicate accurate colors with high contrast and excellent brightness.

LG’s Transparent OLED technology makes it possible to become expandable and customized according to various doors and entrances. The door harmonizes with the surroundings because of its transparency qualities.

The door also includes a robust design with tempered glass, which provides excellent durability and improved safety.

Exciting and New Digital Environment

Paik Ki-mun, senior VP and head of the Information Display business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company, said that LG and ASSA ABLOY’s collaboration would create an exciting and new digital environment. LG’s previous projects with large-sized transparent displays proved useful worldwide, and LG aspires for more significant projects through this collaboration.

Christopher Norbye, executive VP and head of Entrance Systems Division at ASSA ABLOY, said that innovation exists in everything done at ASSA ABLOY. Under the collaboration with LG, the company feels proud to offer and provide customers with the new transparent OLED automatic sliding door. It would provide the customers with new possibilities for customizing brand and customer experiences.
