LG Electronics shared that it had developed the LG NeON H, an advanced solar panel that features N-type half-cut cells. According to the South Korean electronics manufacturer, it plans to target the global solar panel market with the NeON module line upgrade. Following the increase in ESG application, LG pursued to become an eco-conscious company by launching a new renewable energy solution.

Compared to previous models, LG’s newest solar panels offer enhanced carbon-free power and extended reliability, delivering better overall performance. As LG stated, the new NeON H solar panels are best for commercial and residential utilization. Apart from these developments, LG also provided its latest solar modules with a 25-year warranty.

NeON H’s Features

Furthermore, the solar modules present in today’s markets apply P-type cells, while LG’s NeON H uses state-of-the-art N-type cells. Although N-type cells are harder to process, LG applied them to its premium solar panels due to their high efficiency. N-type cells also provide a -0.33% per degree Celsius temperature coefficient, which is lower than P-type cells, enabling stable operation.

Moreover, the N-type’s bifacial cell structure allows the panels to absorb sunlight from the front and rear areas. Consequently, the NeON H delivers exceptional results, producing a maximum of 390W with only 120 cells and simultaneously decreases power outages.

The NeON H panels apply the half-cut technology, which cuts cells in half to reduce resistance, achieving high efficiency. Resistance weakens the solar panel’s capability to generate power. LG also optimized NeON H’s durability, enabling it to withstand severe conditions. Besides their weather-resistance abilities, the panels are less susceptible to light-induced degradation, maintaining outstanding performance even under constant sunlight exposure.

Additionally, UL LLC and TÜV Rheinland, two global safety certification and inspection firms, verified LG’s solar testing facilities. LG also guaranteed that the NeON H would sustain its performance by 90.6%, even after 25 straight years of running. During this April, LG would start releasing the NeON H to global markets, beginning with South Korea.

“Our new NeON H solar panel is the most reliable and efficient renewable energy solution that LG has ever created,” said Kevin Kim, VP of LG Electronics’ Energy Business Unit. “As one of only a handful of manufacturers with the confidence to offer a quarter-century warranty on its solar products, LG is continuing its commitment to providing efficient, effective solutions that stand the test of time.”
