LG Electronics Introduces World’s First Wireless OLED TV

LG Electronics Inc. has launched the world’s first wireless OLED TV. It will be released first in South Korea. The LG Signature OLED M, with its wireless technology, offers a hassle-free viewing experience by removing the need for complicated connection lines around the TV.

LG Electronics has developed a wireless AV transmission solution to address the inconvenience faced by customers when connecting and using various external devices, such as gaming consoles and set-top boxes, with large-screen TVs.

LG aims to provide users with a seamless and clean design that enhances the aesthetic appeal of their living space.

The wireless OLED TV from LG is accompanied by a transmitter called the Zero Connect Box, which wirelessly transmits high-quality video and audio signals to the screen. Capable of supporting 4K resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, the cube-shaped Zero Connect Box can be positioned up to 10 meters away while ensuring seamless data transfer to the TV. LG describes this innovation as the “world’s first consumer TV with Zero Connect technology.”

The Zero Connect Box features various ports, including HDMI 2.1, USB, RF, LAN, and Bluetooth, enabling users to connect various peripheral devices, such as gaming consoles and set-top boxes.

Equipped with a built-in antenna, the box can dynamically adjust the transmission direction based on its placement. Additionally, an advanced algorithm incorporated into the Zero Connect Box allows for detecting obstacles and optimizing radio wave transmission and reception paths, ensuring an optimal viewing experience.

By identifying the optimal transmission path for signals, LG has overcome the challenges associated with wireless connectivity, delivering reliable and high-quality video and audio transmission.

The solution not only enhances convenience but also maintains the highest standards of audiovisual performance. LG’s wireless AV transmission technology supports Dolby’s latest video technology, Dolby Vision, and the immersive 3D sound technology of Dolby Atmos, even in a wireless environment.

LG’s Signature OLED M takes a wall-mounted TV design and has a gallery-like appearance that adheres to the wall. By connecting peripheral devices to the nearby Zero Connect Box, conveniently placed next to the sofa or underneath the bedside table, users can enjoy a clutter-free viewing experience without additional storage cabinets around the screen.

Starting from the pre-sale period at home appliance stores and online brand shops, LG Signature OLED M is set to launch in major global markets, including Korea, North America, and Europe. Customers in South Korea can already place their pre-orders, with shipping scheduled to begin next week.
