LG Uplus and Hyundai Elevator Introduce MIRI View: AI-Powered Passenger Safety System for Elevators

LG Uplus, the third-largest mobile carrier in South Korea, has announced its collaboration with Hyundai Elevator Co. to introduce MIRI View, an innovative passenger safety system powered by artificial intelligence (AI).

Developed through a collaborative effort between LG Uplus and Hyundai Elevator, the MIRI View system employs AI-powered closed-circuit television (CCTV) technology to analyze the movements and voices of elevator passengers, providing an intelligent safety solution. In an emergency, the system promptly alerts both the elevator’s safety manager and the customer center, ensuring a swift response and assistance.

The joint development of this advanced system commenced in January with the intention of enhancing passenger safety in elevators.By leveraging the capabilities of AI-based CCTV, MIRI View efficiently detects emergency incidents within elevators. The system promptly relays vital information, such as the elevator’s location and internal video feed, to Hyundai Elevator’s dedicated customer center.

To support the implementation of the MIRI View system, LG Uplus has developed a monitor-based application and a viewer for their customer center, providing the necessary AI CCTV equipment and access to their LTE network

LG Uplus and Hyundai Elevator have collaborated to implement the MIRI View passenger safety system. As part of this joint effort, LG Uplus takes responsibility for providing elevator monitoring applications, AI-based closed-circuit television systems, and LTE communication networks.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Elevator handles key functions such as sales, installation, and service operation, ensuring the smooth deployment and maintenance of the safety system.

After its initial distribution to hospitals, geriatric facilities, hotels, and residential-commercial complexes, LG Uplus plans to extend Miri View’s availability to industrial sites.

The companies plan to expand the system’s coverage to elevators equipped with Hyundai Elevator’s advanced maintenance and management service, MIRI, which was recently introduced. This expansion aims to enhance passenger safety in a wider range of elevators, offering an even more comprehensive safety solution.
