Netmarble, a South Korean mobile games developer and publisher, started pre-registration for popular K-pop boy band BTS’ latest mobile game BTS Universe Story.

Following the worldwide success of the first BTS mobile game BTS WORLD which launched last June 2019, the BTS Universe Story would offer a different gaming experience. The interactive storytelling platform allows players to explore stories centered around the BTS Universe. The app also lets players interact with other players.

Pre-registration for the latest game started last August 18 for players worldwide, excluding China and Vietnam. However, Netmarble did not announce an exact release date, saying that it would launch in the third quarter of 2020.

In a teaser video recently released on the official BTS Universe Story YouTube channel, the mobile game seems to fit under the “sandbox” genre. This style of the game allows players to explore and take part in missions with the freedom to roam and change a virtual world with minimal limitations.

A New Gaming Experience

The BTS Universe Story has two game modes: Create Story mode and Play Story Mode. The Create Story mode allows gamers to play in their story creations using in-game production tools. The Play Story mode provides players with built-in and interactive stories where participants could influence the narrative as it progresses.

Additionally, the game has an AR mode and a Collection function, which allows players to gather customizable character wardrobe.

Netmarble’s executive producer Young-Jae Park said that players should expect the game to bring fresh, all-new content that would allow them to immerse themselves in the story. Park added that Netmarble would continue to share exclusive video content and several events leading into the game’s release.

Netmarble also hosted a special pre-launch Writer Recruitment event where anyone could participate. The selected writers were given early access to BTS Universe Story’s editing tools to develop stories ahead of release. Netmarble would add the stories in the game’s Play Story Mode for all players to enjoy.

Players could pre-register through Netmarle’s BTS website https://btsuniversestory.netmarble.com. Additionally, the fan site contains the cinematic teaser video, and various game features details.
