G Valley

Guro-gu district in Seoul will establish a ‘G Valley-only shared platform’. A Guro-gu official said on March 2nd that it will set up a platform site that brings together related content to enhance the competitiveness of G Valley company and promote job creation in the region.

The project provides customized support policies to reflect the industrial characteristics of G Valley, which is mostly accounted for by knowledge-based small and medium-sized companies such as IT, IoT and SW.

The shared platform exclusively for G Valley includes information on startups and introduction of companies by sector, promotion of excellent companies, corporate support policies by government agencies, cooperation programs for civil society, application for corporate consulting. The district is collecting various information to complete the system’s construction during the first half of the year.

The Guro-gu will push for various projects to create a virtual cycle structure that leads to improved employment conditions for companies. It will provide “R&D consulting” to enhance the competitiveness of IoT convergence companies and “working hours and employment consulting” to improve such issues as long-term work hours and low wages. It will also operate the “G Valley Job Creation Cooperation Network” where 17 agencies, including the government, self-governing, industrial and related agencies, will gather to resolve pending jobs and other issues.

Guro-gu is also active in resolving the “job mismatch” that many companies are struggling with. It will conduct a survey on demand for necessary technologies and manpower and open education programs accordingly. It also plans to steadily find companies that are hiring to send talented people who have been trained through education.

“We expect the project to help companies improve their health and create jobs,” a Guro-gu official said. “We will continue to carry out various projects to boost G Valley in the future.”
