Ssangyong Motor Partners with SK Telecom and Here Maps for High-Density Self-driving Technology Development

Ssangyong Motor Co. made an announcement on the 12th that it signed a MOU with SK Telecom and global map service company Here Maps to develop HD maps.

At the MOU signing ceremony held at SK Telecom ICT Technology Institute in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, executives and employees from three companies, including head of Itaewon Ssangyong Research Institute of Technology, and Park Jin-hyo, SKT ICT director of technical institute, and Lee Moon-cheol, Vice-President of Here APAC, attended.

The three companies have decided to work together to develop high-precision technologies, which are core technologies for self-driving cars.

Ssangyong will be in charge of developing internal vehicle systems such as software that utilizes high-density diagrams and SK Telecom will be in charge of developing high-density real-time communication technologies and module software.
